One of the great privileges of having worked with hundreds of organisations from all walks of life over the years is getting a unique insight into how each one innovates. Since starting to read weblogs in 2004 I've seen a wealth of outside-in thinking but little if any inside-out thinking. The reality is that to truly build great organisations you need both and it is a theme I cover at length within dino inc.

Marissa Mayer, VP of Search Products & User Experience at Google, gave her personal insights into innovation at Google at the Stanford Center for Professional Development yesterday. Framed around the maxims ideas come from everywhere, share everything you can, you're brilliant we're hiring, a license to pursue dreams, innovation not instant perfection, data is apolitical, creativity loves constraint and don't kill projects morph them it is recommended viewing.
