Today, i did my first proper presentation of the data i’ve been collecting on MySpace. “Identity Production in a Networked Culture” looks at how youth use MySpace for socialization, identity production, and hanging out. In particular, i investigate how and why youth are (re)creating a public in digital space.

Danah Boyd has been following MySpace since its transformation into a social networking website in 2003. Her latest post shares some of her findings todate which are part and parcel of the ongoing Kids Informal Learning with Digital Media project at Berkeley. All of the above is recommended reading.
