Catching up on DEMO 06 coverage over the weekend Pleo, Blurb and Riya look destined for success. For those not familiar with the selection process a shortlist of 70 is selected from 1500 applicants. Each pays $15,000 for the opportunity to do a live 5 minute demo of their offering to an audience of peers, VC’s and media. Its a great concept and format because it focuses exclusively on the products over its two days. Having recently announced the launch of DEMOworld and with its first international event to be held in China it won’t be long before DEMO rolls out across all continents. Delighted to see that Niall Kennedy is creating a grassroots equivalent called SF Tech Sessions. It is a monthly technology event to showcase emerging industries, technologies and companies who are either priced out of Demo or chose not to go this route. Heres to seeing more such events emerge as modern day equivalents of bazaars from times past.
