Rocketboom is a three minute daily videoblog based in New York City and is one of the most popular video shows on the internet. For the highest bidder, we will create five original, fifteen second (minimum) – one minute (maximum) post-roll commercials that will span five days of programming, Monday-Friday, March 6 through March 10, 2006. Each day that week a different commercial that we create for your company will be played at the conclusion of the Rocketboom episode.

The winning bid on Ebay today for the privilege of being the first weekly advertiser on Rocketboom was $40,000. I’m unsure whether it was by accident or by design to coincide with todays Media Summit in New York. Either way with digital convergence very much on the summit agenda there will be more than a couple of conversations about the auctions implications. ABC’s impasse with media buyers will put rate cards back under the spotlight. Congratulations to pioneers Amanda and Edward for setting a precedent today in more ways than one.
